This is the target that was highlighted at the close of the first ever conference of central and devolved services of the National Blood Transfusion Service, that held from March 12 - 15 at its Yaounde headquarters. The aim is to increase the percentage coverage of blood needs in Cameroon to 40 percent, at a time when statistics indicate an annual need of 400.000 pints of blood. The closing session that was presided at by Mr. Maina Emmanuel Djoulde, Deputy General Manager of the NBTS, saw various working groups presenting work that was assigned to them regarding the plan of action for 2024 and to which corrections and amendments were done. On behalf of the General Manager, Mr. Maina Emmanuel thanked the staff for their devotedness during the conference which according to him was the tribune par excellence to showcase the work of not only the regional services but also the central services. He remarked that the NBTS would be accessed by its actions because it is a public administration with a nationwide scope. While commending the regional representatives of the NBTS for their efforts, he enjoined all to put hands on the wheel in a bid for the NBTS to achieve its set missions.
