Top Management Undertakes Supervision Missions
The General Manager of the National Blood Transfusion Service (NBTS) Professor Dora Mbanya and the Deputy General Manager, Mr. Maina Emmanuel Djoulde were in Mbalmayo, Nyong and So’o Division of the Centre region on 8 May 2024. Accompanied by the NBTS Representative for the Centre region, Dr. Akongnwi Emmanuel, the delegation made its first stop at the SDO’s office, where it was received by Engamba Emmanuel Ledoux, SDO for Nyong and So’o. Professor Mbanya enlightened the SDO on the missions of the NBTS, adding that the visit was in line with the NBTS’s quest to assess the work done by staff deployed on the ground for close to a year now, as well as liaise with local authorities. The cordial exchange between the Head of the NBTS delegation and the Senior Divisional Officer saw the latter expressing concerns in line with blood transfusion and for which the NBTS General Manager provided answers.
The NBTS delegation then visited the Mbalmayo District Hospital, where it was given a tour of the laboratory and blood bank. Here, Prof. Mbanya nodded with satisfaction after being shown the stocked blood pints and lauded the medical staff for efforts made to make blood available for those in need. Dr. Pierre Claude Tsoungui, Director of the Hospital presented the state of affairs and existing challenges. While noting the concerns, the Deputy General Manager Mr. Maina nonetheless presented the vision of the NBTS which he said in the long run would mutualise the efforts of stakeholders in the blood transfusion chain for a better output.
It is worth noting that the trip to Mbalmayo is the first in a series that will take the NBTS Top Management to the ten regions of the country.
