On April 30, 2025, the National Blood Transfusion Service (NBTS) staff participated in a roundtable discussion in prelude to this year's Labour Day, themed "Social Dialogue and Decent Work for a Peaceful Cameroon." The event brought together staff from various departments to reflect on the importance of fostering a positive work environment and promoting productivity.
Dr. Eyoum Bruno, Director of Social Security at the Ministry of Labour and Social Security led the discussion, highlighting key factors that contribute to a favourable work climate. These included fluid and transparent communication, appreciation of workers, decent employer-employee relations, objective evaluation systems, and flexibility. Dr. Eyoum emphasized that respect for work ethics is essential in promoting a culture of productivity and teamwork.
The ensuing question-and-answer session sparked a lively discussion among staff, who concluded that teamwork, constructive social dialogue, and other best practices can significantly enhance productivity in the workplace. Also present was Prof. Dora Mbanya, General Manager of the NBTS who agreed that by working together and valuing each other's contributions, NBTS staff can create a work environment that is conducive to achieving goals of making blood available for Cameroonians in need.
