NBTS Management Committee Meets in 8th Ordinary Session
Held in the conference hall of the National Blood Transfusion Service, NBTS, the Management Committee of the NBTS has discussed ways of strengthening governance and assessed progress while identifying the priorities to better pursue its mission of saving lives.
The session was chaired by Prof. Tetanye Ekoe, President of the Management Committee, during which members not only examined the accounts for the 2023/2024 financial year but also approved the current budget (CFAF 900 million), which according to the President of the Committee is largely insufficient to meet the mission assigned to the NBTS. In his address, Prof. Tetanye lauded the successful organisation of World Blood Donor Day last June during which statistics on blood collection in the country revealed a 41 percent coverage of the annual need. While stating, “every decision we make today will have a significant impact on our ability to carry out our missions” he encouraged members “to be open, constructive and action-oriented in discussions”. He stressed their determination to make the NBTS a central pillar of the health system, guaranteeing access to quality blood, in a context where solidarity is, more than ever, a necessity.
